Planning your arrival

Cattolica suggests you monitor the dedicated page on the Italian Ministry of Health website for updates regarding travel to Italy.

For travellers outside the E.U., be sure to check your Government / Embassy guidance on travelling to Italy prior to your departure; we also recommend completing the survey for up-to-date and country specific information: https://infocovid.viaggiaresicuri.it/index_en.html.

On campus/ In Italy:

  • Check the Cattolica page info-Covid 19 regularly to get the most up-to-date information on Campus life and services.
  • MILAN CAMPUS: Monitor the information posted on the City of Milan’s website dedicated to international travellers and residents.
  • The Italian Ministry of Health checks and assesses every week the local evolution of the pandemic, we advise students to monitor local news (The Local and Ansa are  a good source of news in Italy in English) to be aware of any change to the region that may affect movement within the city of Milan or within/outside the Lombardy region.

Hygienic-behavioural standards to adopt inside the University:

  • Wash your hands frequently as specified by the Ministry of Health.
  • Avoid close contact with people suffering from acute respiratory infections.
  • Avoid hugs and handshakes.
  • Maintain an interpersonal distance of at least 1 metre in social contacts.
  • Practice respiratory hygiene (sneeze and/or cough in a tissue avoiding hand contact with respiratory secretions - in any case hands must be sanitised after such circumstances).
  • Avoid communal use of bottles, glasses and other objects that involve contact or close use of the nose or the mouth.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with your hands.
  • Cover your mouth and nose if you sneeze or cough.
  • Clean surfaces with alcohol or chlorine-based sanitisers, if specifically indicated by internal work guidelines connected to the type of activity carried out.
  • Use appropriate respiratory tract protections as an additional measure to other personal hygiene protection measures (such as surgical masks, unless additional protective equipment or devices are required).

If you think you might have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus and are experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19 (fever, cough, difficulty breathing), whether you have been tested, please reach out to the insurance provider for instructions on what to do. Do not go to the University Medical Centre or to the Emergency Room. There are protocols to follow depending on the degree of your symptoms. If you are to be admitted, you will be instructed on which medical facility to go to, etc.

Do note that Cattolica staff will not be able to personally assist you should you need help with medical matters while in Italy, especially in situations of quarantine or hospitalization.
