Before your arrival

This page is dedicated to incoming exchange/study abroad students who are arriving to Cattolica’s Milan campus.

Here you can find all the important resources that will be useful to you at the beginning, as well as during your entire stay at Cattolica.

  1. Your University nominates you to study at Cattolica. Cattolica sends you the application link via email. You set up your account password and enter the application portal, upload all the required documents and select your courses. Cattolica reviews your application and lets you know if anything is missing.

  2. View and download your admission letter from the application portal (your personalised arrival and departure dates are written on there, depending on the courses you selected).

  3. Non-EU students apply for a study VISA. Students must first complete the Universitaly application!

  4. Organise your housing and book your flight / organise transport to arrive in Milan by the date on your admission letter.

  5. Check your emails for info regarding International Curriculum Online Registration (in July for the Fall and December for the Spring). You must complete the Online Registration if you selected International Curriculum courses. No registration is needed for the Academic Curriculum courses; we will explain how to add or change courses during the Orientation Event.

  6. Apply for your Fiscal Code (it is free and we recommend you do it now rather than wait!)

  7. Check out the Student Guide for useful tips.

  8. RSVP to the email invitation to the Orientation Event (mandatory event, not to be missed!)

  9. Arrive in Milan on or before the date on your admission letter.

  10. Attend the Orientation Event on campus and start your courses!
You are now enrolled as a Cattolica student and have been assigned a University email account (e.g. firstname.lastname01@icatt.it).

*your email address is made up of the username you used for the application portal*

You will receive University communications on both your iCatt email and your personal email accounts so remember to check both!

Read instructions on how to access your email.

In case you need to reset your password for your email account, you must do so from your iCatt login page. You will need to use the automatically generated fiscal code that was sent to you in the first email that you received from the iam_noreply email account with your login credentials.

The orientation event is an essential opportunity for you to find out all the information you need to get your study abroad off to a great start. You will receive your student card and other resources such as the permit of stay kit (for Non-EU students), as well as listen to info-sessions about the University and how your study abroad will be organised. There will be a series of events in which you can hear specific information about the courses, exams, university buildings and everything in between! Of course, there will also be time dedicated to socialising with your new classmates over the infamous Cattolica International welcome buffet!

The orientation event that you should attend depends on when your courses begin. The start date of your study abroad is indicated on your admission letter, and the orientation event is always the day after the start date on your admission letter.

The orientation events for the Spring semester are:

  • Orientation event for students attending 2nd trimester Economics courses: 5 January, 2024
  • Orientation event 1: 6 - 8 February, 2024
  • Orientation event 2: 20-22 February, 2024

You will be sent an email with the invitation to your allocated Orientation Event. Please make sure you RSVP!

Read instructions on the steps to apply for your study visa

Please remember that once you have obtained your VISA and arrived in Milan, you will be required to apply for a residency permit, known as the Permesso di Soggiorno, or the Permit of Stay. You will receive your permit of stay ‘kit’ at the orientation event. Cattolica International also provides a guidance video which we strongly encourage you to watch as you complete the residency permit application. Go to the dedicated Permesso di soggiorno section for all the information you need.

The Codice Fiscale, or Fiscal Code, is a tax code containing letters and numbers. It is a unique identification code issued by the Italian Tax Authority (Agenzia delle Entrate). It is a required code for many official documents, private contracts, online purchases and money transfers. If you aren’t sure whether you need this code, we recommend that you apply for it anyway as it is free to obtain. It is very likely that the landlord of your accommodation in Milan will ask you for it.

Please read this page for guidance on how to apply for your fiscal code.

We highly recommend that you apply for this code as soon as possible, and that you don’t wait until you arrive to get it.
