Meet the Admissions Counsellors:
The Admissions Counsellors are the ones reading your application and answering your emails! From your transcripts, certificates, to your motivational letter, their responsibility is to help students from all over the world take their first step towards studying at Università Cattolica. As daunting as the process can seem, they have been exposed to every-case scenario and are always prepared to guide you with the support you need. With all that in mind, they know exactly why it pays off to start ahead of time.
Q: When do you recommend students start their applications, and why?
Starting early helps you avoid peak competition and gives you more time for essential steps like visas and documents.
AC: We usually recommend applying as soon as the application period opens, or at least within the first month. There are two main reasons:
- You can receive feedback sooner: we begin reviewing strong applications and giving early feedback from mid-December.
- You’ll have more time for visa and bureaucratic requirements: which can be challenging. Applying early means everything runs more smoothly and comfortably.
Q: What advice do you give to students who aren’t sure if they meet all the entry requirements?
If your academic background is unusual, you’re not alone – our team helps students from many education systems.
AC: Our first suggestion is to carefully read the programme requirements on our website. We’ve designed the information to be as clear as possible, but if your situation is unusual – a unique diploma, a specific certificate, a different grading system – contact us directly. You can reach us by e-mail or phone; we respond personally. We also check cases daily with the International Admissions Office to make sure every student gets accurate advice.

Q: How do you guide students who are choosing between different programmes?
Deciding between programmes can be challenging. With so many options, it’s completely normal for students to feel unsure about which path is the best fit.
AC: This question comes up most often with graduate students, since undergraduate programmes tend to be more distinct. We take time to understand what each student wants. We might ask: “Do you prefer a one-year or two-year degree? Are you interested in research or professional experience? Which campus: Milan, Rome, Brescia, Piacenza, or Cremona – suits your goals best?”
We show prospective students sample curricula and invite them to join webinars about specific programmes. Seeing the structure of each course often helps them picture what life in that programme will feel like.
Q: What makes a motivation letter memorable or effective?
Your motivation letter is your chance to express your story and show why Università Cattolica is right for you.
AC: The most effective motivation letters show that you truly understand the programme you’re applying for. Avoid a generic letter that could fit any university. Instead, focus on these key points:
- Be specific. Mention Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore by name and show that you understand what the programme offers.
- Connect it to you. Explain why this particular programme fits your interests, experiences, or future goals.
- Share your story. Highlight what inspired you, the skills you’ve developed, and what you hope to achieve.
- Keep it concise. One page is enough; clear, focused writing is more powerful than length.
- Use available tools. Templates on our website outline what the faculty looks for in each programme.
Q: What documents or certifications should international applicants prepare early?
Preparing your documents early ensures your application is complete.
AC:
Applicants generally will need to provide academic records, proof of identity, and documents that verify language requirements or programme eligibility. Exact requirements vary depending on your study level, country of education, and the programme you are applying to.
To make sure you’re preparing the correct materials, please check the official admissions guidelines on our website.
If you still have questions, our team is happy to help – just send us an email.
Q: What’s the best way for students to reach you if they have questions during the process?
Applying from abroad can raise a lot of questions, and we’re here for them all.
AC: The fastest way to reach us is by email. You can also call us at +39 02 7234 5108.
Chatbot: There’s a chatbot on nearly every page of the website. It’s a quick tool to find specific answers or redirect you to the right section.
