You Got Accepted to Università Cattolica – What’s Next for International Students?

by Isabella Diaz Martin
Congratulations! You’ve received your admission offer from Università Cattolica, and you’re one step closer to joining our international community.
I remember receiving my offer and wondering: What’s next?
If you’re feeling the same way, don’t worry! I’m here to help. I’ve been through this process, and while I know it can feel overwhelming, trust me – you’re not alone. Let’s walk through it together (with tips I wish I had when I started).
Step 1: Accept your offer and secure your spot
Once you receive your offer, your first move is simple: accept it.
Next, you’ll need to pay the deposit to secure your place before the deadline listed in your offer letter, published in your online application portal.
You do get a few days to decide but don’t let that deadline sneak up on you. Missing it could mean missing out on an incredible experience at Cattolica.
Step 2: Master the ABCs of Admissions
After paying to secure your spot, you’ll receive an email detailing everything you need to do next: pre-enrolment, visa prep, university email, all of it.
Here's my favourite tip – follow the ABCs of Admissions:
Acknowledge – Open and read every email from Università Cattolica as soon as you get it.
Bookmark – Save important info by starring messages, taking notes, or bookmarking the page.
Check – Visit your inbox often! Important updates can arrive at any time.
Step 3: Gather Your Documents Early
The question most frequently asked by students applying for a visa is: What documents do I need to enrol at Università Cattolica and apply for my visa?
The University’s website will list all the documents you need but be sure to check your embassy or consulate’s websites as they may have specific requirements. We recommend gathering your documents as early as possible.
Last-minute scrambling is not fun, things like certified transcripts and financial documents can take time to collect – start early, and future-you will thank you.
Step 4: Complete Your Pre-Enrolment on Universitaly
When Cattolica gives you the go-ahead, you’ll fill out your pre-enrolment on Universitaly, which is the official portal connecting students, Italian universities, and embassies.
Fill it out carefully. I rushed mine and made a mistake. It was a headache to fix.
Why is Universitaly important? Because it’s how Cattolica communicates your acceptance to your local Embassy or Consulate. Without it, your visa process can’t move forward.
Step 5: Book Your Visa Appointment ASAP
As soon as pre-enrolment is done, keep checking for available visa appointments. These fill up quickly and vary by country so don’t wait to snag an appointment as soon as slots open.
“Who do I contact if I have visa issues or questions?”
Reach out immediately to the International Admissions Office. Don’t be afraid to contact them if you have questions or issues – they’re lifesavers. And while visas are ultimately out of their hands, they are always super helpful.
Step 6: The Waiting Game
Now that your documents are in and your visa is pending, you might think: “What do I do now?”
Honestly, not much. Take a breathe and don’t stress!
While you wait, use this time wisely: confirm if your diploma needs recognition. Depending on your country and what school system you studied under, you might need to submit your diploma for degree validation. If this applies to you, it will be outlined in – yes – your email. Stay alert!
Step 7: You’re Officially In! Welcome to Cattolica
Once you’ve submitted your diploma, received your visa, and finalised enrolment, you’re officially a Università Cattolica student!
We couldn’t be more excited to welcome you and to see you on campus soon.
Before I go, let me remind you of the essentials for a smooth start:
