Università Cattolica confirms its global standing in QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026

Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore continues to strengthen its global academic reputation, with three subjects ranked among the top 100 worldwide in the latest edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026. The University stands out internationally in Classics & Ancient History, Theology, Divinity & Religious Studies, and Nursing, reaffirming its long-standing excellence across both the humanities and health sciences and highlighting the breadth of its academic profile.

 

Consistent performance and growing strengths

This year’s results confirm not only the University’s consolidated position at the top level, but also its capacity for continuous development across a wide range of disciplines. A particularly significant achievement is the advancement in the medical area, where Anatomy & Physiology enters the 101–200 band, marking a further step forward in research and teaching quality. Medicine rises to 143rd place worldwide.
Università Cattolica maintains its position in the 101–150 range globally in key subjects such as Communication & Media Studies, Modern Languages, Law, and Psychology. This consistency reflects a solid and well-balanced academic ecosystem, capable of combining disciplinary depth with interdisciplinary dialogue.

 

Research impact and international visibility

The results also underline the strong impact of the University’s research activity. High scores in Citations per Paper, a key QS indicator, highlight the quality and relevance of its scientific output. Particularly strong performances are recorded in areas such as Data Science & Artificial Intelligence, Agriculture & Forestry, Nursing, Anatomy & Physiology, Psychology, and Economics & Econometrics, reflecting a dynamic research environment with growing international recognition.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026 analysed over 6,200 institutions worldwide, with 1,912 universities ranked across 55 subjects and five broad subject areas, generating more than 21,000 entries. Within this highly competitive context, Università Cattolica continues to stand out for the quality of its teaching, the strength of its research and its international outlook, expressed across its campuses in Milan, Rome, Brescia, Piacenza and Cremona.
