Learning objectives

The international graduate degree programme in Consumer Behaviour: Psychology Applied to Food, Health and Environment aims to train psychologists who are experts in understanding and modifying health behaviour, lifestyles and consumer behaviour.

This degree programme is designed to help students build the following key skills:

  • In-depth examination of the foundational psychological disciplines, with particular emphasis on their application to food consumer behaviour, lifestyle choices, and sustainable practices.
  • Development of multidisciplinary skills, including competencies across nutrition, production, environmental studies, economics, and sociology.
  • Enhancement of these competencies, such as designing and implementing research programmes focused on the behavioural analysis of individuals, groups, communities, and organisations in relation to food, health, and sustainability.

A distinctive feature of the degree is its integrated perspective on psycho-social and contextual processes that shape and influence behavioural choices of individuals and their communities. This approach, guided by the One Health framework, places special focus on food consumption, health-related behaviours, and practices promoting sustainability.
