Entry Requirements for the 2-year MSc degree in Languages for International Relations

Who do these requirements apply to?

To enrol in a Laurea Magistrale (Master of Science) at Università Cattolica, you must satisfy the latest entry requirements set by the Italian Ministry of Education. These rules apply to all students with foreign qualifications, from both EU and non-EU countries.

Who can apply for a Laurea Magistrale (Master of Science) at Università Cattolica?

To apply, you must:

  • Hold a high school diploma
  • Hold a recognised undergraduate degree (Bachelor or equivalent).

What are the requirements for my undergraduate degree?
  1. Be an official first-cycle qualification of the relevant national education system, awarded by an official institution* of that system, awarded by 31 July 2026.

    * A university or institution is official when it is accredited or officially recognised in the country awarding the qualification. If you earned your degree at a branch campus or foreign university located outside its home country, the campus must be recognised or accredited in the country where it is physically located.

  2. Qualify you for entry to a comparable second-cycle (master’s) programme in the relevant foreign education system, and in a field related to the programme you are applying for.

  3. Match the requirements to enter a “laurea magistrale” in Italy, i.e.:
    1. Be an academic degree.
    2. Include research elements.
    3. Have the same programme length (minimum 3 years, 180 ECTS credits).
    4. Count the same years of schooling (usually 15 years in total).
  • Università Cattolica will review your academic records to check if your degree qualifies you for admission.

  • Each university in Italy decides the set of documents needed for evaluation and sets its own specific rules for admission.

  • Your enrolment will only be confirmed after the Admissions Office verifies that your qualification is valid.

  • If the country awarding your diploma/degree signed the Lisbon Convention, use the ARDI database to check if your qualification meets the Italian requirements to enter a Laurea Magistrale.

  • If your diploma is not listed, we encourage you to submit your application after you have carefully checked both the general and the programme-specific entry requirements.

Do I need to prove my English language skills?

Yes. You must meet the English requirement at the time of application. Upload a valid English certificate to your online application.

Important:

If your certificate is missing or does not meet our standards, your application will be rejected.
You cannot send new results after submission
