Entry requirements

The entry requirements are based on the latest guidelines for admission published by the Italian Ministry for Education and apply to all students with foreign qualifications, independently of their nationality, both for qualifications awarded in European Union (EU) countries and in those non-EU.  
  1. Eligible candidates need to hold a high school diploma.

  2. Entry to second cycle programmes is possible if the undergraduate degree manifests all of the following characteristics:

    1. It is an official first cycle qualification of the relevant foreign higher education system, 

    2. It is a qualification issued by a higher education institution regularly accredited or recognized in the awarding country. If you studied in a third country, the institution where studies were located has to be accredited or recognized in the country where it operates,

    3. It is a qualification that allows entry to comparable second cycle programme in the relevant foreign higher education system;

    4. It is a qualification showing corresponding elements to the Italian qualification required for entry to a laurea magistrale, such as the academic nature, research elements, duration of the programme and total ECTS (min. 3 years and 180 ECTS), total years of schooling (15 years are usually required).

  3. As per the terms and guidelines set for this Programme, the Undergraduate Degree must be obtained no later than 31 December 2024. 
    In all cases where an admitted student may not have acquired their Undergraduate Degree by the time they finalize their enrolment in this Programme, the enrolment will still be processed, although the student status will be conditional
    In the event that the Degree in question is not obtained by 31 December 2024, the previously-conditional enrolment will be cancelled in a definitive way and the amount paid for the first instalment of the tuition will be refunded.

Suitability of the academic degree for admission to Laurea Magistrale is established by the university receiving the application: each university sets its own criteria and regulations (including required documentation) for admission and enrolment in a study programme.

Admission is based on the evaluation of the academic documents submitted with the application, while enrolment is subject to the verification of the validity of the qualification obtained.

English Language Proficiency

During the enrolment phase, admitted candidates are required to provide evidence of having acquired a suitable level of proficiency in the English language.

For that purpose, candidate may submit:

  • either an English Language Certificate, corresponding to one of the following types and respective minimum scores:
    • IELTS Academic overall score of at least 6.0;
    • TOEFL iBT overall score of at least 80;
    • TOEFL Computer Based of at least 213:
    • TOEFL Paper Based of at least 550;
    • Cambridge FCE - First Certificate (Minimum score accepted: Grade B)
    • Cambridge CAE – Advanced
    • Cambridge CPE - Proficiency 
       
  • or a document confirming that they have attended a Bachelor Degree Programme taught in English.

Candidates whose main language for their Bachelor education was English do not need to submit a certificate. In all such cases, some form of official proof stating that the language of their Bachelor Degree Programme was English will be required instead.
 

The candidate must hold a degree in one of the following disciplines: Biotechnology, Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences and Technologies, Pharmaceutical Science and Technology, Environmental and Natural Sciences, Pharmacy and Industrial Pharmacy, Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry and Dentures, or Biomedical Engineering.


Admission may be granted to graduates from other courses if they meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum 10 credits in the following subjects: Mathematical Analysis, Mathematical Probability and Statistics, Operations Research, Informatics, Experimental Physics, Applied Physics (in cultural, environmental, biology and medicine), Physical Chemistry, General and Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
  • Minimum 30 credits in the following subjects: Physiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Clinical Biochemistry and Clinical Molecular Biology, Experimental Biology, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Biology, Human Anatomy, Histology, Genetics, General Microbiology, Medical Genetics, General Pathology, Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology.
