Rome hosts the National Academy of Santa Cecilia (the oldest musical academy of the world) and the Academy of Fine Arts of Rome (Accademia delle Belle Arti).

 
The city offers the students several opportunities. In fact, during the year artistic, musical and sportive events take place and are not to be missed:

Birthday of Rome – April 21
In 753 B.C., according to the legend, Romulus founded the city of Rome. The event is celebrated with numerous cultural events.

International Worker’s Day – May 1
Celebrated with a free concert in San Giovanni in Laterano Square, usually attended by over hundred thousand people.

Republic Day – June 2
A traditional military parade takes place along Via dei Fori Imperiali to end up in Venezia Square. The celebration includes the laying of a wreath at the Unknown Soldier Memorial, which is part of the “Vittoriano Monument.”

Feast of “Noantri”
Literally the feast of ourselves (of the Rome citizens), the first Saturday after the July 16, takes place in the old district of Trastevere, one of the most typical and traditional place of the city. The feast commemorateS the Virgin of Carmelo, Madonna del Carmelo

Feast of the Immaculate Conception (Madonna Immacolata) – December 8
To commemorate the religious feast of the Immaculate Conception; the Pope celebrates a religious function in Piazza di Spagna and a group of fire brigade lay down a wreath on the statue of the Virgin Mary.

Rome Marathon – March
Takes place in  along the streets of the Eternal City. A peculiarity of this event is called “Stracittadina”, a non-competitive 4 km race along the marathon track open to everybody including families and children.

Cosmophonies – July
Music, theatre and dance performances take place in Ostia Antica.

Tevere Expo – between June and July
held every year along the river Tiber’s banks. Tevere Expo is a market of Italian typical products where to conveniently buy also gastronomic specialities.

Rome International Cinema Festival – International Cinema Festival of Rome - October
Was first inaugurated in 2006 with the aim to bring also to Rome the allure and the importance of similar European festivals. It takes place in the complex of the Auditorium Parco della Musica (Park of the Music).

Rome Masters - May
Big sportive event recurrent every year held at the complex of Foro Italico. The tournament is internationally highly reputed and attracts to Rome yearly all the best tennis players.

Rome Europe Festival - from September to December
The most prestigious festival of musical arts of Rome hosting artists of international reputation. Every year concerts are held in the Auditorium and in the main theatres and squares of Rome.

Artists of Via Margutta
Traditional exhibition started in 1953 as spontaneous movement of some painters that in the aftermath of the second world war gathered to give life and colours to a street, Via Margutta, a natural hide for painters, sculptors, poets and craftsmen.

Navona Square market - from December 1 to January 6
A traditional Christmas market.

Villa Celimontana Jazz Festival - Summer
One of the most outstanding events of the Estate Romana (Roman Summer). On stage the best artists of the national and international “jazz set.”

Summer in Rome - July and August
Many events take place in various districts of the city including theatres, cinemas and also open air and sometime along the Tevere river and in parks.
