Course details

This full-time, 1-year Master combines academic courses, soft skills training, project work, and an internship. Students attend classes in key areas and complete a final assessment based on their internship experience.

The Master is structured into five main areas, with a total of 360 hours of classes:

  • Managing a sport company

  • Sport marketing, branding and sponsorships

  • Media and digital technology

  • Managing events

  • Managing infrastructures

  • Human resources and followers’ management

  • Business models and innovation in sport

  • Financial reporting

  • Financial statements analysis

  • Funding strategies and financial markets in sports

  • M&A and valuations in sports

  • Sport Law

  • Athlete and Labour Law

  • Corporate governance of Sport Clubs

  • Licensing and broadcasting rights

  • Managing Sport for Development Programs

  • Sport Integrity, Ethics and Culture

  • Managing Youth Sport Academies

Electives
Two courses to be chosen by the student among the following:

  • Sustainability & ESG reporting

  • E-sports management

  • Taxation in sports

Additional Training

  • Soft skills workshops in Leadership, Teamwork, and Public Speaking (4 ECTS)

  • Guest speaker sessions and company visits (8 ECTS)

  • Field project work (4 ECTS)

  • Internship (10 ECTS) with sports clubs, federations (e.g., FIGC, FIR, FISI), or international sports organisations

Each student also has a mentor who supports academic progress and career planning.

Upon completing all requirements, students receive the title of First-Level University Master in Sports Management: Business, Communities, Territories.

Graduates of the Master in Sports Management can work in many areas of the sports industry. These include:
  • Professional sports teams and clubs

  • National and local sports federations and leagues

  • Sports industry associations and organizations

  • Sports consulting firms

  • Companies in sports communication, digital marketing, and strategy

  • Amateur sports clubs and community organizations

Students are trained to understand how the sports world works and how to apply business, communication, and management skills in real sports settings.

  • Class start date: January 2027

  • Class end date: July 2027

  • Internship: between July and December 2027 (minimum duration: 3 months)

  • Graduation: March 2028

International students can join Italian language courses offered by SELDA (Servizio Linguistico d’Ateneo). These courses require a fee.
