Entry requirements

Entry Requirements for the 1-year Specialising Master in Advanced Public and Cultural Diplomacy for International Relations

 

  1. Be an official first-cycle qualification of the relevant national education system, awarded by an official institution* of that system. 

    *A university or institution is official when it is accredited or officially recognised in the country awarding the qualification. If you earned your degree at a branch campus or foreign university located outside its home country, the campus must be recognised or accredited in the country where it is physically located. 
     
  2. Qualify you for entry to a comparable "Master universitario di I livello" in the relevant foreign education system. 
     
  3. Match the Italian requirements to enter a “Master universitario di I livello” rin Italy, i.e.: 
    • Be an academic degree. 
    • Include research elements. 
    • Hacve the same programme length (minimum 3 years, 180 ECTS credits). 
    • Count the same years of schooling (usually 15 years in total). 

 

By when must I obtain my undergraduate degree? 

  • EU citizens: You must have your degree before the start of the programme. 
  • Non-EU citizens: You must obtain your degree at least two months before the programme starts. 
  • Uiversità Cattolica will review your academic records to check if your degree qualifies you for admission. 
     
  • Each university in Italydecides the set of documents needed for evaluation and sets its own specific rules for admission. 
     
  • Your enrolment will only be confirmed after the Admissions Office verifies that your qualification is valid. 
  • If the country awarding your diploma/degree signed the Lisbon Convention, use the ARDI database to check if your qualification meets the Italian requirements to enter a Master Universitario di I livello
     
  • If your diploma is not listed, we encourage you to submit your application after you have carefully checked both the general and the programme-specific entry requirements. 
Who do these requirements apply to? 

To enrol in a Specialising Master (Master Universitario di I livello) at Università Cattolica, you must satisfy the latest entry requirements set by the Italian Ministry of Education. These rules apply to all students with foreign qualifications, from both EU and non-EU countries. 
 

Who can apply for a Specialising Master (Master Universitario di I livello) at Università Cattolica? 

To apply, you must: 

  • Hold a high school diploma
  • Hold a recognised undergraduate degree (Bachelor or equivalent). 

 

What are the requirements for my undergraduate degree?

 

Do I need to prove my English language skills?


Yes. You must meet the English requirement at the time of application. Upload a valid English certificate to your online application.

Do I need work experience? 

Yes. It’s helpful if you have work experience with: 

  • NGOs (non-governmental organizations) 
  • Public administration 
  • Non-profit institutions 
  • Experience in international settings is a plus. 

 

What happens after I apply? 


Will there be an interview? 
Yes. If you meet both the general and programme-specific entry requirements, you will be invited to an online interview with the Master's admissions committee.
