The application period to the Medicine and Surgery programme in Bolzano for the 2025/2026 academic year is officially closed.
However, if you're planning to apply in the future or want to understand the admission process and your eligibility, the following information outlines the procedure for students with a non-Italian diploma (international).
Who qualifies as an international student?
At Università Cattolica, regardless of your citizenship, you're considered an international student/applicant if you:
- Hold a non-Italian high-school diploma, or
- Are about to complete a non-Italian high-school diploma.
Who qualifies as a domestic student?
You are not considered an international student/applicant for our Medicine programme if:
- You were awarded an Italian high-school diploma (Maturità) upon completion of your secondary school education
- You attended a German high school in Italy and are completing both the Esame di Stato and the Abitur.
Domestic students must follow the domestic application procedure.
Important note on application fees
Make sure you select the correct application procedure – international or domestic. The application fee is non-refundable, even if you apply through the wrong procedure.
How many seats are available for the Medicine and Surgery programme in Bolzano?
The programme has 60 seats in total, divided as follows:
- 50 seats for:
- Italian and EU citizens living anywhere.
- Non-EU citizens living in Italy with a permit of stay (permesso di soggiorno).
- 10 seats for:
- Non-EU citizens living abroad.
The number of seats may change based on decisions by the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) under Law no. 264, August 2, 1999.
